Project: Creating a infographic for the students to understand how to schedule virtual tutoring sessions

The final version of our poster:

When doing our last step we wanted to use the go board logos that you see on their website to help the students find the right site and to make our poster more interesting. We noticed that it was the only blue on the screen and it looked a little strange so we decided to add more blue accents in the previous steps. We included a hyperlink underline in step one to emphasize the website address. We also included a dropdown arrow in step two since the actual process of scheduling an appointment involves using dropdown arrows.

For bullet points we originally used a pixelated mouse that was black and white. However we decided to make the mouse look more like our poster so Andrew made a vector image of a mouse with a smooth red outline and we used that as our bullet points for step 2. We decided to use a mouse because it ties into the idea that this is an online platform. For the other bullet pints we decided to keep that format and we used a red outline with a white center. We also added white bars from step 2 and 3 in order to put our heading of the step there and to make it pop out and easier to read. Along with this we decided to connect the search bar in step one to the red circle step for continuity in all our steps.

We then added Gompei the Goat to make the poster more fun and inviting while still tying it back to WPI.

We also created poster with longer dimensions that were not restricted to Instagram's dimensions:

Since we had more space to work with we kept the same elements but spaced them out to make it less clustered. We also added a red footer block that included the kinds of courses ARC offers tutoring for. We again kept the same concept of round white shapes to put our text in, and used the same fonts for main lines and content.

Conclusion: We were able to produce a poster that gave accurate information that was organized and easy to understand. Students looking at this poster will immediately know that it is from WPI as the school colors were used and the school logo is highlighted in the corner as well as Gompei being featured on it. The use of school colors and logos gives credibility to our poster. We used less formal fonts to make the poster somewhat fun and inviting. The main steps are bolded and highlighted with a white background so they are clear to the reader. The content of the steps are neatly laid out and bulleted so that one can easily navigate the information. However I will say that the poster is definitely functional but isn't the most exciting. This could possibly detract students who don’t want to spend time reading another post when they already read many emails everyday. But, for students who know they are looking for tutoring, this poster is a quick and easy read that can help them schedule their tutoring session.
